The title pretty much explains everything.

I have my new MacBook Air, and I went to back it up just like I do my other machines.

Estimated time: 15 hours.

It looked a little odd, so I stopped the back up and it took the system almost five minutes to stop the process.

Ran it again: Estimated time: 15 days.

And now it simply will not stop the backup at all. The clock keeps spinning. I have never encountered the error before and I was curious if it had happened to anyone else?

You say it's a new MBA? How much content do you have on it that is new or unchanged since the last backup?

How is the drive connected to the machine? If it's wired, is it hooked up to a hub? If so, plug it directly into the machine (hubs are generally the bottleneck).

LOL... Well it claimed that the backup was 540,000+ new items. First backup for the machine, but 15 hours and then 15 days seemed kinda absurd.

Wireless hub is a Time Capsule, which is also my backup drive.

I emailed Apple about the issue as well. Even sent them a pic of the backup.

Alright then... Restart. Nothing. Restart. Nothing. Restart. Fifty minutes and done.

I guess third time really is a charm.
