I have this old laser printer that I want to use since instead of my inkjet because my printing needs are rising dramatically.

I'm running the latest version of Lion, but my Mac doesnt recognise the printer when i plug it in by usb. Also, the drivers for this printer are not on Apple's list of supported printers.

And on the samsung website, the drivers are compatible on Mac OS up to 10.6.

So how can I use the printer?

Unfortunately it seems that i messed up earlier - there are actually NO official drivers for Samsung ML-1610 for Mac :(

The drivers I referred to earlier were for a different model, I didnt notice until now...

Anyway, it appears that the Samsung ML-1610 printer is not supported for Mac at all...

Is there any way around this (short of using my Windows laptop)?

There are drivers and work arounds for the ML-1610. You may have to do some googling and a bit of work getting it installed but there are drivers for OS X.

Here is one site that you can check: LINK

I found a thread that helped me out.

Samsung ML-1710 Print drivers not working-help!! - MacRumors Forums

That thread deals with the ML-1710 specifically, but the drivers from the Linux foundation link work for a whole bunch of the samsung printers.

My Samsung ML-1610 now works perfectly just like with my windows laptop (except now it has a load of extra features as well!)

still there? :(

You may want to expand a little bit regarding:

- what sort of help you need
- what you mean by "still there?" (especially since this thread has been silent for 14 months)

Or you might be better off starting a whole new thread of your own.
