Duplicate entries in ical

Hi,
I enabled icloud on my iphone 4 and tried to sync my ical but it created duplicate entries on re-occurring entries in ical. I did realize that Lion is needed after the fact. Now I can't seem to remove the duplicate re-occurring events on my calendar in my iphone. If I continue to sync it will keep adding another duplicate. I do not have mobil-me.
I have wasted too many hours trying to fix!!!!!!

Attach iPhone to iTunes..
Info Tab > Replace info > Contacts, Calendars etc.
If that doesn't work don't sync iCal and it will clear all the calendars then resync.
