Good Afternoon

This shared device (please see picture) has been listed on my iMac for as long as I can remember. I am new to a mac and have only had this machine for a handful of months. My printer is a wireless printer.... how can I find out if that is the device which is listed here? My network is secured. Any advice on determining what this shared machine is would be appreciated. Thank you!

Only thing I can think off is ..... In your proximity, do you have any HP Networking equipment like Wireless LAN Access Points ?
I remember seeing things like this in a network some time ago.

Hello,

My printer is an HP (HP Color Laserjet CP2025). Could this be the device listed?

Might well be, if you check the last 4 digits of your printers MAC address, they should match the 53CF you see in the shared device name ..... that is if my memory serves me right.
I think that NPI is an HP " thing " and no other vendor uses this naming.

That is a very good question and I can not answer that as I am not a technical specialist.
Might well be that the MAC address is printed on a label at the back or under the printer.
Don't know to be honest.
Do you have any printer tools installed on OS X for that specific model of printer ?
Maybe it is in there.
Is there an interactive menu available on the printer itself, maybe there is an " info " menu item ?

Let's cut some corners and see what happens .... can you switch off your printer and see what happens in your finder screen.
If it is the printer, it should disappear.

Cheers ... McBie

If you shut off the printer and the device is still listed there try restarting your Mac and see if the device is still there. Do not turn the printer back on until after you check. Some devices are a bit persistent about not disappearing from the sharing list immediately. The restart should take care of that.
