I replaced a 4th generation Airport Extreme base station with a 4th generation Time Capsule (TC) base station. It seems that the transmit rate from the TC is lower than the airport extreme. I was getting over 200 mbs and now am often lower than 100 with everything in the exact same location. Does the TC use some of the overhead to cover the wireless hard drive? I originally extended the network using an airport express and thought that was reason my transmit rate was slower. I removed the extended network to check the rates with just the TC and they did not improve as expected. Any thoughts? Am I being overly anal? What are good rates? Right now I am getting 117 mbs.
