Hello all,

I've noticed that playing HD videos on my mid-2009 15-inch mbp can get quite choppy, and the CPU usage of the video player sometimes exceeds 100%.

Would I be able to fix this problem by upgrading my RAM? I currently have 4GB, but it can be upgraded up to 8GB.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think the internet speed matters since these are files saved on my computer

More RAM will help, certainly, but what might really help is to convert the video into something the computer has less trouble post-processing, like MP4.

This was always my issue with MKV -- takes a HUGE amount of processing power to decode on-the-fly.
