I know when Apple says the "max supported" ram is usually was is available at the time but, 8GB sodimms are available and getting much cheaper. Has anyone tried more than the supported 16GB max and does the chipset support it?

Your Mac's Specs
2017 15" MBP, 16gig ram, 1TB SSD, OS 10.15
All "mid-2011" iMacs will support a max. of 32gig of ram. There is a "late 2011" 21.5" 3.1 GHz Core i3 iMac that only has an 8gig ram max.
