Hello :)

I am having trouble rearranging icons in my External Hard disk

I pressed arrrange by> name.
Disconnected my drive and when reconnect the view is all haphazard again.

Iv posted a screen shot just incase. (Blurred out the sides for privacy.)

The drive is formatted as Msdos-Fat. Does that make a difference?

Please let me know Asap

thanks and regards

MS DOS!!! And you're connecting it to what? Always provide more info than you think anyone could possibly need...
And, there's no screen shot.

You still haven't described the computer that the external hard drive is attached to.

Ok, so you're trying to connect an external formatted as MSDOS to a Mac, and you're having trouble. That sounds right to me.

How do you know it's not the MSDOS drive that is to blame? O:)

Try ctrl-option click -> the menu should change to keep arranged by - the key word being keep. I've not tried it on a MS DOS partition so toMACsh may still be right - but you want to make sure it says "keep" for what you are trying to do.

Yes, I didn't pick up on that, Ivan. Arrange By and Keep Arranged By are two different animals. Arrange By is a means to temporarily change the "permanent" Keep Arranged By, um, arrangement.
