I have just Down loaded Update OS X 10.6.8 on my iMac.

Can I save this and burn it to disk before I restart the Mac to install it?

Can I still get to it after I install it? and if so where on the Mac is the download stored?

Many thanks

The download is saved wherever you told your browser of choice to save it. If you weren't given that option (if you use Chrome and Safari for instance), it's likely in your Downloads folder unless you changed that setting. As with any other file, you can burn it to disk if you choose to do so.

Did you use Software update or a Web Browser to get 10.6.8?

It's own Software Update used to get OS X 10.6.8
Came in varies stages with gaps between possibly 6/7. Maybe a server restriction?
Somtimes fell back a few MBs then just carried on untill finnished.
Took A while 1.09 GB.

Haven't done the Burn to disk yet but thank you for the good advice

OS X stores updates in /Library/Updates (Macintosh HD > Library > Updates) but note that it deletes them after it's done with them. If you've already installed the update, it's likely long gone.

If you want the update on a CD/DVD, just download it from Apple with a web browser and burn that to the CD.
