Can the express be used for a wireless external drive?

I don't see why it couldn't.

Way... way too many specs to list.
No. It'll only work with printers. The programming required to share isn't included in the firmware, and it does not even provide enough power to charge an iPod.

Man that's a bummer. Alright thanks for the response.
Maybe an extreme in the future then!

I am actually kinda surprised that someone hasn't figured out how to hack that thing. There is no reason that it couldn't work to connect a powered drive. It's just a limitation that they place in the firmware. Perhaps someone will figure this one out using the Airport Utility...

Yea exactly, its just a limitation thing to make you upgrade.

When I get back to my apartment, Im going to check my router, I think it actually has a USB port! If it does, then I am set ! Yes

It's a bit more complicated than flipping a bit. But if you're into learning to write firmware, by all means.. go for it.

You're referring to AirPort express or me plugging my external drive into my wifi router?

Yea, Im going to give my router a try for now (when I get back) and if it doesn't work I'm going to have to look into it more.
