Hey, so im gonna be selling my macbook pro soon. But i was hoping to get some advice on what kind of price i should be listing it for, cause im not sure exactly how much its worth.

15 inch MacBook Pro
Intel core 2 duo (2.4ghz)
4gb ram
Geforce 9600m GT
250gb HD
Bought in late 2008
Latest Version of snow leopard (will consider upgrading to lion if it would benefit the sale enough)

I also upgraded to the higher capacity battery, 9 lithium watt hour or something like that...

So i guess id like to know from you mac specialists what this kind of price this model would likely fetch, and what might be the best place to list it (im thinking ebay obviously, but just incase any of you know somewhere it might be better placed to sell?).

Im in the UK also, so its going to be a GBP type of transaction ;).

Thanks!

Check Mac2Sell.net (UK)...and e-Bay. They're really two of the best sources for pricing/ballpark values.

Hey, thanks for the reply, but im kind of getting conflicting views from both those sources, haha.

The mac link says i should sell at £400, which if im honest is way below what i would be hoping to get for this, its in great condition and id have the thought the specs aren't too bad. Then Ebay has a couple around my specs and age listed at £700-950. So im kind of back to square one with where i want to list this thing :).

I guess a better question to ask is; at what price would you guys be willing to pay for something like this if you saw it listed for sale? Maybe that will give me a better ball park for my starting price.

Thanks

You have to realize that items (the same exact items) can sell (or be listed) for a wide range of prices on e-Bay. If some MacBook Pros are listed on e-Bay UK for £700-950...this may be the extreme upper end of what folks are listing them for on e-Bay...the big question is "Dp they ever actually sell at this price?" That's why you have to "watch" these auctions to see if the items actually sell.

If Mac2Sell says £400...and some are listed for £700-950 on e-Bay...I would say look to see where "most" of the MacBook Pros with your specs. actually sell for. Just because a MacBook Pro like yours is listed with a "Buy It Now" price of £700-950...does not mean that it ever sells.

Once you have a good idea of what most MacBook Pro's like your's ACTUALLY sell for on e-Bay...then you will have a good idea of what to sell your MacBook Pro for.:)
