My son's new MacBook Pro had trouble starting and opened with the flashing question mark. We restarted with the option key pressed and have gotten as far as the screen that asks us to select the disc where you want to install Mac OS X. We don't have a hard disc (didn't come with computer) and the option screen shows no options. Can someone help? No idea what to do next. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Your son's new MBP must have a hard drive. In any event, if you held down the option key during the boot process you should have seen two items: The MacIntosh HD and the Recovery Partition. If you saw neither one, it's time to make an appointment with your local Apple store genius bar and take the machine on in for them to look at. It's possible the hard drive may have failed. The machine should still be under warranty, let Apple deal with it.
