Yes it's legit, and there has been some other discussion about it.
Of course, you need a blu ray drive still.

I saw that and was tempted until I viewed the cost. In my opinion it's a bit pricey considering you still need to buy the burner.

I tried the free trial. Playback was choppy for me. That could just be an isolated issue though...

To be honest, apart from it having a set interface, specifically designed for Blu Ray, I don't see the need.
Both Plex and VLC (and Quicktime with Perian) will play back M2TS files, which is the container that Blu Ray uses, so there is no reason why they won't play back a Blu Ray connected via a Blu Ray drive anyway. Given that they are all free, it makes this program seems redundant.

this is what I do, but on a Windows machine.

I don't trust any program with a website that has such a poorly structured, almost Engrish-like paragraph such as this:

its almost as if plurals dont exist...

And if the discount is "at least" 17% off, I wonder if it goes all the way up to 100%? we'll never know...
