Hey guys,

New boy here, I want a mac that will run Logic Pro 9 with ease (my friends have macbooks and always get OVERLOAD error when running) and also something that can do a fairly good job in the gaming department.

My budget is only £400 so Im not expecting the best gaming experience but something that could play GTA iv in low / med settings?

Anyhow this powermac has caught my eye, but Ive read alot about Powermacs not being good for what Ive explained Id like however this one seems to be upgraded although the graphics card is a bit :S but would the 4Gb DDr2 and 2.3ghz dual compensate?

For games you really need an Intel mac. The G5 has a PowerPC processor not an Intel chip

Nope...this computer is not going to get it done. You need a Mac with an Intel cpu...the Powermac G5's do not have an Intel cpu.

It will not run the latest logic pro 9.1, but should run logic pro 9.0 or 8 if you can get hold of them

but logic pro 9 would run ok?

Logic Pro 9 WILL NOT run on a Powermac G5! As I mentioned above...you NEED a Macintosh computer with an Intel cpu to run Logic Pro 9.

But...as "louishen" advised...an older version of Logic may run on a Powermac G5...just research the system specs first.

Best suggestion is save your money and put it towards an Intel Mac of whatever model impresses you. The days of the PowerPC chip are well and truly over alas. It is something we all have had to do over the last couple of years.

I don't know if the price is a deal or not, but I have that exact laptop and it works quite well. I don't use logic pro however.

That's kind of a BIG change in direction. You were talking a desktop...now you got a laptop. In any case...getting an Intel based Mac is a better idea than the G5.

Like Razormac...I'm not sure if it was a great price. I'm not too familiar with UK used computer values...other than they sell for much more than in the US. You could go to Mac2Sell.net...and see what they say.

Congrats,:)

Think it was somewhat overpriced but if you are happy - enjoy. Better investment than a G5..
