So, I've been on this forum a while, I've owned a few Macs in my time, but this is the first time I've had to post. I just bought a Macbook Pro 15" (MBP 5,1) 2.66 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, with OS X 10.5.8 installed. I can't update any further, Software Update tells me I am currently up to date. I went to Apple.com /Support, searched around, and found OS X update 10.6.1, tried to install it, but it says I need 10.6 to continue. I have not been able to find a download for OS X 10.6. I'm kind of stuck without the App Store, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to purchase a retail copy of Snow Leopard 10.6.X from the Apple on line store. Cost is $29.99 plus a small fee for shipping.

Thanks a ton, I just realized I was using the disk that came with the MBP and not my copy of snow leopard. Thanks!
