The hard drive on my macbook recently crashed and rather than buying one from the apple store I'm hoping to purchase one and install it myself. Unfortunately I have little knowledge and experience in what to look for in a new hard drive. The hard drive that crashed was a Fujitsu Mobile hard drive - 250 GB - SATA-150. I mainly use my computer to listen to music and use the internet, but at the same time I wouldn't mind upgrading to something better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zach

G';day and welcome to the forums.

Any well known brand is fine., You pays your money and takes your chances. The speed of the Fujitsu is SATA I and that is what you should look for. A SATA II drive will be dearer and still only work at SATA I speeds. Choose from Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi, Toshiba etc. Look for the drive that has the best warranty period.

owc are Mac specialist Zac and will help you if you have any problems. You might like to consider a faster drive of n7200RPM:-

It is SATA II. SATA has a transfer speed of 150, SATA II 300 and SATA III 600
