    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. I recently got a new HD camcorder - the Panasonic HDC-SD600. As with all HD camcorders it's records in AVCHD. I am still running iMovie '09 on my 2007 iMac, which I recently upgraded to Lion. I am wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to iMovie '11 or just buy a converter app in the app store like Aunsoft's converter. I also have Final Cut Express 4, but I don't think it recognizes AVCHD files either. I just want to know which would be the best way to go. Upgrade to iMovie '11 or keep iMovie '09 and use it with a converter?

If it was me and had the $$ then iMovie 11 would be my first stop. Having the App that is most suited to the OS is the way i like to fly. Not saying that iM9 won't do the job, but iM11 is a major overhaul from the iM9.
Why buy a converter when you can do what you want without it and buy iM11. But thats just me.
As for is it worth it ?? Only you can make that decision, we can only give you guidance

Cheers

iMovie11 is worth the upgrade. It has far, far better audio editing/control than 09.
