Help! Needed! Need help to make my decision up!

I have been looking to buy a mac pro as my old mac pro died on me, I've found a Mac pro 1,1 but its the 8 core upgraded one.
the specs:

Mac pro 1,1

2.66ghz xeon x5355 x2 ( 8 cores)

7gb ram


250gb hdd 7200 rpm


comes with leopard retail disk and leopard installed

price is £800

do you reacon it is worth it ?. it scores over 10000 on geekbench

Just a query, are you sure that 7gb Ram is correct..I thought it went 2/4/8/16 that kind of thing ? I would also query the 8 cores of chip, and if you are thinking of spending that kind of money Leopard is a backwards step in my opinion.

hi sorry it has 8gb ram and he said he will install osx lion 10.7.2 but also give me the retail version of leopard! , And that 8 core chip is a genuine upgrade.i have it checked out and it is perfect it is scoring better then core i3 and core i5 iMacs! so what you think ?

Reasonable price and the upgraded X5355 is the way to go.

Consider replacing the standard graphics card with say an ATI Radeon HD4870 or 5870, both 1GB memory. Also in time pop an SSD in to see it fly. Also ask the seller to burn Lion on to a USB thumb drive. Does he have the original system install discs, version OS X.4.7 silver grey discs, as that is the only way to access Apple Hardware Test?

Hi yeah he said he will burn lion on thumb thumbdrive and he said he has the disks swell and it is fully boxed in great condition. So it is perfect.

And one more question harry, do you think this should be okay for about 1/2 years? as i don't want to buy something that will become obsolete.
