Can't paste into Mac Mail

All,

I can't copy and paste into the body of Mac Mail. Just started happening.

Tried:
Copying from word
Copying from a message I typed
RE start the program
RE start the computer
Tried both "apple/V" and from the menu "edit / paste"

No luck.

Ideas?
