We just switched to Xfinity internet (Comcast) and I am getting ready to hook it up at the house; however, it appears that the cable modem for Xfinity service is a modem/router. Is there a way to use the Airport Base with this set-up, should I hardwire the two, should I slave the Airport Base, or should I just use the router set-up from Xfinity. Any input or suggestions are appreciated.

If the Xfinity device is an SMC you might be able to put into bridged mode which is basically removing the routing function.

Or just put the Xfinity device into the Airport's WAN port. This will work but if you want to host any services you will need to double NAT them from the internet to the DMZ and then the LAN.

The DMZ being the nework that exists between the Xfinity device and the Airport is itself a network.

See if there is a bridged mode first. 1-800-COMCAST
