My brand new mbp seems to get really hot. How do I know how hot is just normal hot? I mean it gets really hot on the left side especially ... so if i am working my left thigh and left wrist gets a bit uncomfortable because of the heat ... Any responses?

You note that your left thigh gets hot - are you using this on your lap? If so, try to avoid doing so. You want to keep your MBP on a well ventilated, flat and hard surface so air can be circulated in and out.

Thank you for your replies Kevriano and van smith. I have made a nice plywood palette to use in future. I made it shaped to allow for use of a mouse. I wonder if I should raise the four corners a little to allow more air underneath? I think I will probably do that. I am surprised that the casing of the mbp is completely sealed underneath - unlike my previous hp laptop that had air vents at the bottom. Anyway, thanks again.

Thread title...
I know it's sumer but this thing gets hot!"

It's only Summer where you live (which we don't know where that is since you didn't say).;) On the "top-half" of the world...soon it will officially be Winter.

Now if you're from a completely different planet (with inter-planetary travel capability...and advanced wireless internet)...please don't "zap" me with your "ray-gun" (at least not before Christmas)...I want to see what "Santa" brings me first!;)

p.s. Just teasing!;)
