"iTunes cannot synch apps ..."

When I try to synch my iPad2, the following message comes up:

"iTunes cannot synch apps to the iPad because the apps installed on the iPad could not be determined"

Help greatly appreciated ...

You might need to get a patch from apple.

Thanks for your reply. No, it's not jailbroken.

However, I've just carried out the latest update to the iPad2 and gone through the backup process and all is now well. I think it was probably a self-inflicted wound. I had not done a synch for a long time and it hung for ages before finishing. At that point, I foolishly aborted the synch with a forced quit. I suspect that was the cause of the problem.
