Re-download OS X will cost me $29.99 ?

Hi All,

I am new here. My name is Michael and I have recently switched to Mac.

I just got the MBA13 and it does not come with any recovery DVD.

I understand there is a recovery partition that will re-download the OS.

However, I would like to re-download the OS X Lion via Appstore itself.

When I Option+Click the the appstore, it changed the "installed" to "$29.99".

When I click it again it says "Buy".

I am afraid to proceed further thinking that it will charge me again.

Please advise if it will charge me again.

What you need is Lion Recovery Disk Assistant, here's the link to Apple's site which details how you go about it.

This method requires you to have purchased Lion, which OP hasn't done nor does he want to. If he had purchased it, then yes this way would work.

Hello, I went and bought a 8GB thumbdrive and created the Recovery Tools on the thumbdrive.

Now, how to I get the OS X Lion into the thumbdrive without downloading it again.
