Can't get my iphone to NOT sync

I don't want my iphone to sync every time I plug it into the computer. There is a short in my USB cord (I've ordered another one; it's on the way) and every time the cord moves a fraction of an inch, it tries to sync and slows the laptop down. I have gone in to iTunes and disabled the auto-sync anywhere that I could find it, but it still keeps doing it.

Any suggestions on how to get it to stop?

Don't use the USB cord with your computer at all for now.... period. Use the wall outlet adapter for charging instead.
