Hi guys,

I have a 2011 iMac and an iPhone. What I would like to do is stream music from the iMac (wired or wireless) to my receiver (either by regular stereo or optical toslink). I think this could be done with Airport Express.

However what I also would like to do is turn the receiver on and to the correct input via the iMac and preferably my iPhone or future iPad as well. I doubt my current receiver is up to this so my question is if you know of any receivers that have this compatibility with iOS products? The receiver must support 5.1 surround and have at least 3 optical inputs.

Thanks!

Closer than you think.
Your Mac's Specs
Performa 6116 2GBSCSI 8MB OS 7.5.3
There are iPhone cases that incorporate RF and universal remote capabilities.

Start googling.

I use Airport Express and the Remote app from Apple to play my iTunes library through my receiver and TV for streaming iTunes video content.

As for third party support, there are a few out there.
