Which RAM MBP 2011... :(

I have a late 2011 MBP and want to upgrade from 4gigs. Here are two links to 8gb sticks. HUGE price difference, but I'm not sure why. Hopefully someone can recommend the best way to go

Or I could buy two 4gb sticks from OWC for $50... and just work with that for now. Thoughts?

you are better off with the 2 4gb sticks, there should be 2 slots to fit your two sticks. why pay more ?

I was thinking of doing two 8 gig sticks... but maybe for now I should just do two sticks of 4.

If I do the 8 gigs, what's the difference between the two prices?

Hi ycl1688-you're not reading my question. I posted links to two different 8gb sticks with completely different price points, and am trying to figure out why such a drastic shift.

usually 1 single 8gb piece cost more, that is all I can say. they sell fast i believe.

no, the lower price one reads 2x4gb on the right hand box.

Look at the first two links I posted NOT the last. The top two are single 8GB pieces of RAM prices in very different categories.

I am confused a bit, to make life easier 2x4 gigs should be good enough for you right now. As I am not sure what good will be for you with 2x8 gigs.

Looking at the first two links (for the 8gig sticks of ram)...I'm scratching my head trying to figure out an explanation for the price difference ($84.99 @Newegg & $183.99 @ OWC).

The specs on both appear to be the same...and normally I would recommend buying from OWC...but not for the $100 difference/stick price!!! Multiple folks even posted in the Newegg link that the 8gig stick of ram worked in their MacBook Pro & Mac-mini.

Maybe I'm missing something.

p.s. I think that Newegg allows you to return the ram...so buy it...and if it doesn't work...return it. You may have to pay some shipping costs...but worth the risk vs. the price from OWC.
