I am putting a new hard drive in my Powerbook G4. As far as I understand that the newest OS X that it will accept is 10.5.8. If I install 10.5.6 on it then once installed I got to system update will I be able to update to 10.5.8?

Make sure the install disc is a black full retail install DVD and not a model specific silver/grey disc as that will never install. Often updated versions, OS X.5.6 compared to OS X.5, are the silver grey discs.

It is the black disk with the big x on it. And they were purchased after the computer. There are not disks that came with any computer.
