Hi guys,

I have got a disc stuck in my iMac G5 (intel version) and I have tried almost everything without any success such as:

Holding down the mouse (click) when you start up
Typing drutil tray eject in the terminal
Pressing the eject key (constantly)

My DVD drive does not recognise the disc so it doesn't pop up on my desktop so I can't drag it to the trash can. When I press the eject key the Mac doesn't even attempt to eject the disc (no sound anyway).

Thanks in advance for any advice :D

EDIT: Sorry probably in the wrong section.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

For starters it is not an Intel G5 as there are no such monsters. Has to be a G5 PowerPC model, or an Intel model. Sounds seriously like the slot loader has failed. They have a habit of doing that alas.

Maybe a job for taking apart, replacing the optical drive and removing the DVD. On one last chance place an eject icon in the Menu Bar.
