Hello folks,

Ideally after using any ipad application if we press the home button does it mean the apps is closed/off mode ? Otherwise how does one shut an application?

Was just surfing through when I stumbled on to this; On pressing the home button twice a menu bar on the bottom of the screen pops up which has various apps. On pressing the apps button they jiggle with a red(-) on the apps. Now I guess on pressing the red(-) on an app the same shuts down. Is it so ? Again if there are multiple apps is there any way to close them all together.

Thanks for reading and sharing your views.

When you click the home button, the app that you have open is not actually closed but pushed to the background. To preserve battery life though, you can think of the iPad as taking a "snapshot" of the app. When you relaunch the app, you're returned to where you were.

To close the application completely, you have to double click the home button, hold down on an icon and press the red caution sign. While this closes down the app completely, you probably won't have to do it all that often since "backgrounded" apps don't take up much resources (most of the time - sometimes they do).

Thanks vansmith, just read it somewhere that there are apps which are hungry for power. Now how does one determine that ? In fact I did notice my iPad's battery dying out sooner than before. Is there any way to close few or more apps on one go after clicking the home button twice?

Thanks for reading and sharing...

No, you have to do them one at a time. As for determining which apps are resource intensive, that will have to be through experience. ;)

Thanks vansmith, yeah it's bit of a pain to close down apps one at a time. Anyways...
