I have recently purchased a new Macbook Pro and will be handing down the older model to my wife. Can someone please direct me how to restore the old machine to the factory settings? I would like to strip it back to it's original settings and remove all of my files. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Why do you need to do that? Just create a new admin user (your wife), log on to her new account and then erase your account.

Thanks for the tip, will this process delete all of my files as well? The goal in this is to clear up hard drive space for my wife's files.

Yes, it will delete all files associated with your account. Note, however, that applications which were installed for all users will not be removed. You probably don't want applications to be deleted anyway.
