I can't connect to wifi in my macbook

it say
"AirPort has the self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet."

now I'm connecting to the internet using ethernet and I want to connect using AirPort what should I do? and why did this happened

You need to tell us a bit more. How are you connecting to WiFi? Router? Which Router brand and Model?

Are you using Encryption like WEP, WPA, WPA2 and if so which one? Are you putting in your key correctly?
