I spilt a drink accidently over my macbook the other day (was an accident and i am always carful with it, had it since 2008). I tried to dry it out and left it for a few days open in a warm place. However went to turn it on today and nothing happens, wont turn on. Thankfully it is covered under insurance however I need to delete some files off it before i send it off, nothing illegal, just personal files that i dont really want anyone else to see.

Is there anything I can do to access these files and delete them?

Thanks

Yes. Remove the hard drive from the MacBook (easy task) and insert it in a USB carrier or case. Attach it to another Mac and delete the files or just erase the entire hard drive, after making a backup of course! Let us know if that works for you.

Sounds simple enough. But what do i need to connect it to another mac or computer??

The external case you buy for your hard drive should come with a USB cable.

No, wrong carrier case. You need a USB SATA carrier case not IDE. IDE will not work.
