2010 Macbook White Mini display port to HDMI (No Sound)

I tried using the mini display port of my 2010 Macbook white to HDMI on a Toshiba LED TV, the visuals are ok but i don't get any sound.

What do i need to do? I thought it was compatible already given that it's a 2010 model.

15" MBP '06 2.33 C2D 4GB 10.7; 13" MBA '14 1.8 i7 8GB 10.11; 21" iMac '13 2.9 i5 8GB 10.11; 6S
2.26Ghz model does not support audio via the mdp.

2.4Ghz - did you open up Sound preferences and select the TV as the output?
