Wanting to set it up alone

I have a gateway modem that my airport is connecting through. It is on a wired connection to the gateway, but it is in bridge mode. Because of this I cannot do any port forwarding or anything. Is there a way to get it off of this or not. I can not just have a splitter when it comes in because the cable handles the telephone and internet. Please help.
