• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey all, I do a series of youtube videos. One of these series is a Unity3D tutorial. The other ones are game commentaries. I use a program called ScreenFlow. It works just fine for the tutorials, but the games... Needless to say, it lowers the framerate by maybe 20. I heard there is a way you can record your screen externally, so the computers performance never takes a hit. Something like a pvhd cable or something. Basically, its like a HDMI sort of cable that allows you to capture your screen. Is there such a thing? If so, is it for mac, and if so... *pant pant* where can I get it?

Thanks again.

Sorry Screenflow doesn't work for you. Have you tried other screen capture programs like Camtasia, etc.? There are often free trials. You may want to try that before investing in hardware.

Camtasia, QuickTime, I've tried them all. So it is possible to record it using hardware? Thats all I need, no software.
