Hi - Trying to decide on which to purchase -

refurbished mid-2010 imac core 3i with 1T , 4g or new 2011 imac core 5i with 500 GB, 4g both same price.

any thoughts? the newer 2011 is running new Lion while older running Snow Leopard. Been reading how people don't like upgrading to Lion on older machines -

Running Illustrator and Photoshop plus editing video

thanks from a newbie

I upgraded my iMac from Snow Leopard to Lion and that went very smoothly.

For what you are doing, you might find the i5 to be a better fit due to the extra processing power (especially for the video editing/processing). You can always upgrade the memory yourself to the 16GB maximum if need be.

The one thing you will be stuck with is the HDD size, so you might have to explore external storage if you want more than 500GB.

It is possible to upgrade the internal HDD on the iMac, but it isn't for the faint of heart..

thanks

Thanks - that is what I was leaning towards - more processing power in the 5i over size of HD. Can always use external HD which I do now anyway for video storage.

appreciate your comments.
