Could my mac have a virus...

Hi guys,

The last few weeks my mac is running very slowly, im assuming its my harddrive failing because i checked it out and it does appear that it is, but also, every time i go on the internet i keep getting pop ups and sometimes i will be directed to some random website with more spam on there.

Last time i seen this behavior was when i was on windows, which indeed was a virus. Allot of the time my internet page just crashes, spinning apple loading sign to infinity..

No virus, but maybe it's the sites you visit. I get those pop ups from time to time.
Run all of the recommended mantenace checks and see if things improve.

Its not the sites i visit because random, i even get pop ups on faceook, unless thats a new thing with it? err its so annoying

Did you install any software from a questionable source?

You may have simply installed a dns redirect trojan

And questionable source includes MacKeeper, MacDefender, MacScan etc. Also there is a malware hiding as Adobe Flash Player update. Downloaded any of those lately. In Safari got Block Pop-Up Windows checked, and in Safari preferences > General make sure the Open Safe Files box is unchecked.

That could be a possibility but im not sure where to find it on my drive or what its called lol

Facebook has started throwing up random adverts recently, so it may just be that.
