Getting MacBook Pro to read aloud

One of my students with a disability has a MacBook Pro and needs it to read aloud the books or .pdf's that have been converted into digital documents for her. Can you help me help her?

You should be able to use the VoiceOver feature of OS X to read the documents, assuming the machine recognizes the documents as text. Some PDFs (particularly those that are scanned) will not be recognized as text until they have been processed by OCR.

Getting MacBook Pro to Talk

Thank you!!!! My student will really be helped by this and so will I!

I will be getting a new MacBook Pro pretty soon for personal use at home. My MacBook is on its last leg (it needs a new battery, new logicboard, new optical scan drive (?) (the thing that reads teh CD or DVD), and 2 MG of RAM so I can run Lion. All of those repairs would cost me close to $700 -- so I will just get a new one!
