Sound to headphones AND computer at the same time

Is there a way to have sound coming out of my speakers/iMac system when there is something plugged into the headphone jack?

(I connect my iMac to my old TV which doesn't have an HDMI input, so I need to use my headphone jack for the audio - so right now it seems I have to connect and disconnect the jack depending on if I'm at the computer or using the computer to watch TV

Nope. This apparently isn't a software setting, but something in the hardware that automatically switches the output to the headphones when something is plugged into the jack.
