• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Is it at all possible for me to actually use an EyeTV Tuner USB on the PowerPC Mac Mini G4 or will it be too slow for it?

I would love to be able to use the mac mini fully as a multimedia hub (and as a tv recording and viewing) but I am not to sure whether the PowerPC G4 would be able to process and decode digital tv.

:) I thought I'd ask the question before I went ahead and purchased it. That.way I know for sure.

From the EyeTV website, the requirement for the EyeTV software are:
System Requirements
Macintosh computer with an Intel Core® processor
1 GB of physical RAM
A built-in USB 2.0 port & a compatible TV Tuner
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later.

Ahh thanks, so I guess that's a no. Oh well no big deal, I would have liked for it to happen, but i will just use my multimedia Win Vista laptop for any tv recordings. :)
