Can I Retrieve Deleted Files?

I don't know how but somehow the contents of my entire documents folder has dissapeared

I'm really desperate - is there any way i can restore the files? I've searched google but I can't find any free software anywhere.

Please help!

have you done a search in finder for any of the documents? are you sure you deleted them?

No I can't find them anywhere and I have emptied my trash recently.

Well I guess the first thing to say is that this is a great reason to make sure you always do backups!

If you accidentally deleted it and emptied your trash, the only solution you have without a backup is to contact one of those expensive data retrieval companies who might be able to reconstruct some of the data from the cleared sectors for you.

If you choose that route, I'd strongly suggest you completely stop using your Mac until they can recover the data so you don't overwrite new data on those sectors making it impossible to retrieve.
