Can the processor be upgraded

I own a Macbook pro and want to know if the processor can be upgraded to have it run faster.

this is what is on it now
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.53 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB

What can be upgraded for it to run faster. can not afford a new mac

No, only way to THEORETICALLY do this is the swapping the logic board which would be 1) really expensive 2) really dangerous (you could muck up a ton of stuff really easy) 3) potentially impossible because the ports may not be compatible, especially if you don't have the unibody MBP. I was thinking of doing this in my MacBook too, but it'd not worth all the trouble and money only to possibly ruin your computer. Try to see if you can upgrade your RAM a bit more instead, that should help.

That's still a relatively fast machine. Has it begun to feel slower over time? Perhaps you just need to do some maintenance?
