Trackpad not working!

Dear admins and members,

Hope you are all well.

I have a 2008 13" macbook pro. The trackpad responds perfectly and I can move the mouse around. However, when I try to click on anything on the screen it does not work at all.

I hope some one has a solution to this problem.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
The MacBook Pro 13" model first appeared in the Apple lineup in Mid 2009. Is your machine a MacBook instead?

It sounds like your trackpad may be defective. If you use a mouse, does that work OK?
