Confused about downloading

I am a newbie on this forum and lots of luck to all.

Just bought a refurbished MBP 13.3 and very excited about it. I want to stay in the Apple family so I bought an iPhone 4s and an iPad2.

How come I can't find Netflix and Skype on the Mac App Store where it is available on iTunes for the iphone and ipad?

Is it possible to download this two apps? Please help.

Netflix isn't an app for desktop/notebook machines. Simply login to the Netflix website and stream the content. You can get Skype here.

Unlike iOS, you don't need to use the Mac App Store. In fact, many apps are not available through the MAS.

Netflix requires Silverlight though to run.

Silverlight isn't available on the mobile iOS platform, so they wrote a client.

Good point. To save everyone the time (MS really didn't design this well since most search results for Silverlight lead you anywhere but to the plugin), here's a link to the Silverlight plugin page.

And if you install Flip4Mac, Silverlight is included.
