a4 or a3 wacom graphics tablet?

I want to buy a wacom intuos graphics tablet but do not know whether to buy an A4 (large) or A3 (extra large). I will be working on concept designs and character design and have a macbook. Which size is best? Thanks.

Extra Large is indeed HUGE. I use a medium and, to be honest, I'd buy that size again. That said, I do photographic work. If I did illustration type work, I'd ponder a large. I don't think I'd do extra large, unless that is, I was used to painting as my primary medium.

Personally I like the A4 size, I have once used an A3 way back and to be honest it was too big even for design work

Thanks both. Do you know if you can do tracing with the A4 size? I know this is possible with the A3.

You can trace with the medium model just fine, but you might have to switch the artwork position more times than with the larger tablet. Keep in mind that you can always pan and zoom on your artwork, so the smaller tablet area should not be a problem. It's also easier to use a keyboard alongside with the smaller tablets.
