cant find migration assistant in os 10.1.2 puma

I'm new here but need some help.

I'm trying to migrate photos from an ancient G4 running os 10.1.2 to a new imac running 10.6.8 but I am unable to find migration assistant on the old machine or make the new mac see the old using reboot and T. Is there a manual way I can transfer files using a network cable? I only want to copy the photos across Help

I do not believe that Migration Assistant was included until 10.3. You can set up file sharing on both Macs and copy the files across.

Thank you for your advice, I will try the link you suggested or try the painful process of burning to memory cards or dvds.
