My knowledge is in between beginner and average. I just started to learn "JAVA" language. I am a retired person. In my MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.4.11. I can down load NetBean IDE 6.8 only. If I want to down load latest NetBean 7.1 and JDK-6 what is the Mac version I should?.

Please tell us your computer model and if it's Intel or PowerPC.

If I remember correctly, there is no JDK6 available for PowerPC - 5 or more years old Macs.

OP mentioned that they have a MacBook Pro. All MacBook Pro's have Intel cpu's.

Way... way too many specs to list.
The earliest Macbook Pro will support 10.6.8. I'd recommend, if you're looking to develop, at least getting to Snow Leopard. Tiger's quite dated at this point.
