Start up sound

Is there any way to deaden the iMac start up sound? :Shouting: Better yet, eliminate it entirely?

Take note if you're running Lion, the author says it won't work. However, I'm running Lion on a new iMac and 2008 MacBook and it works OK. Your mileage may vary....

StartupSound.prefPane downloaded and installed. Works just fine. Needed the latest beta version to work as I have an Intel based iMac.

Don't have Lion so no issue there. As I've heard there are issues with Rosetta Stone V3 I won't be upgrading until I'm certain it's ok to do so.
