I've had this Macbook Pro for couple of years now and I have been very careful with this unit. No scratches on the screen nor the outer. I experience slight electrocution, heating of the keyboard area, and recently the damage on the above image. When it's open (above image), you can't see the opening/gap in the screen. But when close, you see the interior of the screen (images below).

It breaks my heart to see this opening/gap as I've been very gentle and careful through these years. Please advise how to correct or fix this. Thank you.

Has the machine been dropped or subjected to extreme temperatures like leaving it in the trunk of your car in mid Summer?

Anyway, regardless of how the damage occurred, it's going to be very expensive to repair because it will almost certainly mean a new case and possibly an LCD if that was damaged.

thank you chscag for your reply. no, i haven't dropped it or left it in the trunk. i'm in singapore but bought this in california way back. oh wait, maybe dropped it once but it was like years ago. will it take that long to take effect? it still works and all, just the warming up at that same upper left side area and occasional slight electrocution.
