Importing photos

Folks-
I am attempting to import my photo library which lives on a PC into my new IMac. My new computer won't recognize a thumb drive or a dvd-r. Also Migration Assistant will not flash a passcode onto my PC screen. Would love some suggestions.

If your new computer won't recognize a thumb drive or a DVD-R, it's either broken or you're doing something very wrong.

I appreciate your quick response. And...I am afraid you might be right! Is there any possibility that it is just a formatting issue? That the dvd-r and the thumb drive were pc formatted and the mac just doesn't recognize them for that reason?

There's a difference between your iMac "seeing" the DVD-R and flash drive and recognizing them. Which is it? Do either mount on the desktop?
